It T'was a terrible thing that Cyril had done.
Years ago Cyril bought the corner lot at Lane and Jackson and had built a beautiful house for him and his bride. Together they were raising three wonderful children, 2 strong boys and a lovely daughter.
Over the next few years Cyril Cyril opened a prosperous butcher shop, attended the local church right across the way. Cyril was even asked to help with the founding of Roseburg OR in 1822.

Then one dark and stormy night ....
Those poor children and their mother did not stand a chance.... so much
blood. It was enough to bring strong men to their knees when they entered
the House.

Nobody figured out the why,
Cyril was tried and found mentally insane and sentenced to spend the rest of his life in Fairview Manor located across the South Umpqua River, where today stands the Douglas County Fairgrounds
While confined to Fairview Manor. Cyril was placed under the care of DR. InHu Man. The “good" Doctor’s methods of treatment were considered by many to be worse than some of the crimes committed by the people who were residents of Fairview Manor.
Water "Therapy", electro-shock, lobotomies and the "Good Doctor's" own special experimental treatments.
?Cyril was a favorite of the Staff and patients of Fairview, especially a fellow that evryone called Stabby. Stabby liked to pretend he was a clown and would decorate his room (cell) with colored lights and brightly colored dots and sometimes his own blood.
Cyril and Stabby became best friends and were alway seen together, wondering from room to room inside the Manor.
Nobody really knows what or where Stabby went...he was just gone one day.
?Cyril spent the remainder of his life confined to Fairview, where he endured many years of (Treatment) up until he died 145 years ago.
?For 144 years nothing happened, but then around 2010 The Elks Lodge decided to hold a fundraiser.... A Haunted House as it were.
?BIG MISTAKE!!!!
Something has been reborn in the ballroom, the faint child' laughter.... the screams......the moans........the strange happenings, has Cyril returned?
Every year it culminates during late October when the Haunted House takes place.
It's been 151 years. Will he be able to wake his Family this year?
